Little Miss H.

I will be playing catch up for a while on my sessions from the past two months...so for now, here is
little miss H. I have photographed this child many times in her little life, and this was the first time
she wasnt all smiles and giggles...a true sign of toddler-dom looming in on her...her momma and I were complete fools and we really didnt even get a whole lot...even a singing christmas elmo did not amuse her. :)
Cant wait to try again for those adorable little smiles, she cant hide them from me for long!!!

Christmas Cuties

I have spent the last 3 afternoons since my kids returned to school doing nothing basically...and it has been so nice! I really worked hard in the last 2 months to get all of my shoots & edits and orders in for my clients before Christmas, and so yeah, I deserved that 3 days to do nothing! My brother was here from Hawaii and his family and mine were together everyday for about 10 days...it was hectic, but awesome to be together! But over the next few days, I just want to take some time to highlight some of my little Christmas Cuties...here's the first little guy..isnt he just awesome? wait until you see the rest of these little faces...I just love them all. *remember...to view images in better quality, just simply click on them. enJOY.

It is a new year!

SO as most of you have been hearing, reading and talking about making new years resolutions for 2012...I have been thinking. Thinking about how every year I set these goals for myself that are usually ridiculous. And I mean unattainable in my own reality as a mom, as a wife, and as a business owner. So for 2012 what I have resolved, is to be at peace with my reasonable goals...things that are actually DOable, things I know in the crazy chaos of family life, I will have the TIME to complete on a daily basis, but not just for my own satisfaction...for the good of my family and my kids.

I have goals for my faith, and learning to listen to God when it comes to my business and finances. I have goals for my photography that are reasonable and that will work for my family. I have some goals for my mothering and for my housekeeping. I have resolved to be off the desktop, ipad and iphone when my children are present...because when I am infront of screens, they are infront of screens. I have resolved to start and complete Project Life once and for all, including my children in that process, since all of that creativity has been missing from our lives for far too long now. I am going to be realistic and complete a Project 52 to document my family, instead of a 365...which for in my line of work, after shooting other people for hours at times...does not exactly motivate me to shoot my own life every single day. I have resolved to post a blog post at minimum once a week! hahahaaa :) Yeah, we will see how that goes!

I am also very sure that the only person this post is for, is for ME....like any of you really care what my resolutions are. However, getting it out there means you have now read it, so in turn that holds me accountable for getting on all of it and making it happen,...which is good for ME.

Sarah and Christopher...and the bump!

Back in late August I got an opportunity to shoot my cousin Sarah's baby bump! Sarah decided not to find out the sex of the baby....so if you know me, you know that was driving me crazy! :) They live a few hours away, so we needed to set this up and shoot early in the morning....it was 6:45 on a Saturday, and I am pretty sure Chris wasn't even awake yet! We had a great time shooting, until we realized that we were all starving! Enjoy!

Rock the Shot!

For so long now I have wanted to submit an image for Rock the Shot (a photography forum that I belong to) and every single time they host a challenge, I forget about it. I am so usually so busy shooting and processing images for my clients, that my own photos get the back seat. Well recently I purchased the Bohemian Symphony Collection from Oh So Posh Photography and I am in love with what these actions can do! I am starting to use them on my outdoor client sessions and am so pleased with the results! If you are thinking about getting this collection, you need to stop thinking and just make the investment...so so worth it!

Although I have snapped a ton of other peoples kids in "fall backdrops" (this months challenge theme) I really wanted to go with my own littles. With that being said, I used the Bohemian Symphony Collection to process this image and the actions used were Simply Charming and Carnival Lights. So here I go...

Sweet baby S

A few weeks ago, little baby S and her momma came by for a newborn session. She was however 6 weeks old, so we werent sure how it would go (normally newborns are not very cooperative in the sleeping department after 10-14 days old for a shoot) BUT we really really wanted to capture her newness, so we photographed her anyway! Turns out she was really alert and cute during her awake time for the camera, then actually slept well for her sleepy shots. Baby S is precious and I hope you enjoy this post!

Hi! Wow...I know...I havent been here (again) in such a very long time. There's been lots going on, and trust me when I say....LOTS~ but I am back to shooting and I have a fantastic session to share with you, however! This little cutie patootie just lit up my lens with her gorgeous little face and adorable personality.

So my best friend and her hubby are adopting a little Dude from South Korea...how amazing is that? He is simply perfect and they could not be more perfect for him. He's not here yet, but together with her mom and some added crafty hands, we threw her a baby shower on saturday. I love how it all came together, and how along the way, I may have inspired some non-crafty types to get crafty! sorry, but the Martha blood runs thick in these parts :) It was so much fun and so well deserved. She was glowing! Welcome to the world of Momma-hood, K! We love you so much! :) Enjoy!

my super talented Aunt made this bunting for me to give to K for the nursery,

and to use at the shower...

I might seem like I am all kinds of crafty, but I cannot sew :)

We placed some of her baby toys at her table,

that her Grammie had sewed for her as a baby!

She was suprised at all of it, and it was such a joy to see those

teary-eyed smiles...those are always the best.

She had a lot of fun opening the handmade gifts from her mom,

and even got to open a blanket that her Grammie had made for her as a baby!

This was a small part of my day yesterday. I got to be part of a super special baby shower for my bestest friend, and at the end of the day...I got a little alone time with my girl. So many times it occurs to me that I am always striving to make good photographs of other peoples children, which dont get me wrong, I love doing...but sometimes its good to just produce some great shots of your very own littles. Here she is...all jacked up on cupcakes, cake pops and root beer...and trying not to get carried away! Enjoy.

Fall family session

A Valentine Ballerina

Miss A came to visit room 118 this weekend as a suprise for her
Dad...she wanted to capture the Ballerina side of her and also some
pretty shots. I think we managed to do exactly both...she also brought
along her Aunt Loralee's pointe shoes for some inspiration...she keeps
them on the wall in a shadowbox in her room. I love that.
Miss A kept me on MY toes and I loved spending time with her again!

I just loved spending some time with this little girl and her first time parents...

she was 5 weeks new and full of personality already...she did sleep a bit, so I was

luck to get some sleepy shots! She had had such bright eyes for 5 weeks...

is store for room 118. I have been working with a graphic designer for a while
now and its getting close to completion. There will be a site change as well

Ok...this baby shooting thing is just awesome. I love that I get the
priviledge of being able to capture these precious little ones within the
first week of them being born. I love how much I have learned over
the last few months in terms of the shoots with them, and so excited
to get my lens on more and more newborns. Such a blessing!

This little girl belongs to my hair stylist. She and her family came
at just 6 days, and we got some beautiful shots of her and her Big
Brother J. He is a toddler...so I knew I wouldnt expect to see him
infront of the camera for too long...but when he was sleeping...

little face

I just love this little face. She's already getting so big...took her to the
vet last night and she is already 7 & 3/4 lbs! And she has doubled in
length. Ahh babies. Hard to believe she was a mere 4 lbs when we
got her less than 6 weeks ago. Its funny, because now you can actually
hear her little puppy feet! When she was first home, she was so little
and light, that you couldnt hear her walking...so weird. But now,
watch out! She's a little crazy girl! She goes up and down the stairs,
which I am still worried about, and she also sits for us. However,
the best thing is...I successfully taught her to ring a bell at the back
door to go outside! We tell her "do your jobs" and she goes! the BEST feeling!

Obviously I have a ton of shots of this little face, but this one is special because
I shot it on her first day with us. I love this D. O. G.

A couple of weeks ago I got a chance to shoot this family

and the session was just delightful...Miss L is four, and little Mr. C is

three...and we know & love this family.

A few weeks ago I got the chance to shoot one of my oldest friends and her family...

They have twins, Mr. R and Miss L...and they are typical 2 year olds! Adorable,

wicked busy, and just a joy to be with! I know that I have said this before,

but there is something about looking into the eyes of a childhood friend's child...

its such an amazing feeling, like being transported back to when we were kids together.

I can so see her moms face when I look at Miss L, and even though she is

only 2, she has her momma's spunk already! Enjoy!

where I've been...

Sorry I have been so absent from the blog feeds these days...I have had so many
sessions to edit...which I should look at as a good thing, right? Well it has been
frustrating since I am now working full time...there just is not enough time to blog
my sessions! In any case, I am now caught up with the exception of one session,
and would love to be able to post them all RIGHT NOW.

However, I again, do not have the time...so I am going to put up my most recent session
that I did not have to touch...just SOOC. I love these photos. I have loved every single
session that I have been entrusted with this past month, so thank you to all of you
who have trusted me with your memories. Thank you for visiting Room 118.

For now I have posted little "miss A". She is super spunky and a little bit sassy...
and oh so fun to talk to! The setting sun was my only source of light for this shoot
and we made it work...in about 25 minutes! What an amazing little girl.
I just love how the setting sun behind the trees casted such a warm glow on her...
however I DESPISE how Blogger somehow DOES NOT
seem to catch that warmth in my uploads. Why do you do this Blogger, why?
Stop distorting my colors! Oh, and also, stop cutting off my horizontal shots on
the right hand side....ggggrrrrrr......Time for a real site, huh? Yep.

This is the kind of shot where I really feel proud to call myself a natural light photographer...its just yummy :)

however, I chose this one. This image is of my 5 yr old...he says

"I'm almost 6, mom"...I was actually getting some real portraits of

them together in the orchard about 2 weeks ago. As I was getting my 9 yr old

set up infront of some beautiful branches, I turned away from her and caught this

one of him. He is constantly building...legos, tinker toys, lincoln logs...

and now..APPLES! He was trying to "build something" by

stacking apples. It was just classic HIM, so I couldnt resist this one.

When I saw this exposure in my files I just cracked up!

I love these kids, I know these kids...I love how she is

looking up to her older brother, as if to say "I will smile good, if you smile good"

and his expression is just priceless. The 3 yr old and the 6 yr old, gotta love

this moment, and this shot! I didnt touch it either, 'cause I did not have time, just sooc.

Sunflower Walk, or should I say RUN?

So about a week ago we went to the Sunflower Walk after getting sun-soaked
at Gillie Lake for the day. My children LOVED this maze! It was a blast and
a great place to take pics...I highly recommend btw, that is if you can get your
kids to stay in one place! All they did was run and play and NOT cooperate!
It was a spur of the moment trip to the land of make believe however, so I need
to let it be what it was...and that was just plain fun (for both the runners!)

Summa Time!

I just love the evening in the summer...everything is just at peace.

The sun is hazy and the air is warm...its when the real breathing of

the day begins for me. Here are some shots that I took at about

8 pm. I could have stood in that field of weeds for hours more

with her and my lens. I have so enjoyed watching her become such a

big girl, just even more and more this summer!

Here is my entry for the i heart faces weekly photo challenge!

I try and enter this whenever I can, that is if I have a photo in

my collection that applies to the weekly theme. I think I did

it with this one! I shot this a few years ago at the Strong

Museum of Play in Rochester. This was taken in the Dancing

Wings Butterfly Garden exhibit they have there. There were

so many shots, it was hard to choose, but I enjoyed looking

back on ALL the photos taken that day of my hubby and

our kids running all around that place!

I just love how the wings of these beautiful little guys reminded me

of lace...the one in the center has a torn wing if you look to the top left, but

that did not seem to stop him from spreading his wings and flying! *Oh and

a little bit of posing for me as well! wink wink

This is my dear cousins little girl and we spent a summer day with

I love to document. Will she even remember being eight and playing

with her brothers army "mans"? Most likely in a year or two she

I had some great fun playing with these images of Baby J...she was just under

a week old when we took these photos and just over 5 pounds! {sigh}

I got my hands on some really cool actions from The Pioneer Woman Photography...

my favorite action is Heartland which you will see I used quite a bit here.

Another cool action I like of hers is Seventies, which gives the photos a

really great shabby chic look to them. I could play all day...but just like every

other mom I know, I need 32 hours in a 24 hour day. Thanks for looking!

Ok so you if you know me, you know that I am a HUGE Dave fan,

HUGE Tom, HUGE. So this show popped up on the tour late in

the game and somehow, not sure how really, but somehow I was

able to sweet talk my hubby into going~ and when it was all over

I heard words that I thought I would never, EVER hear come from

his mouth..."WOW, that was pure raw talent, worth every penny"

(If you know him you also know that he is sooooo not a crowd

person, he'd rather have bamboo shoots jammed up his finger nails!)

Summer Beauties

I have had the opportunity to photog Miss S in the past {along with her
family a few times} She sings acapella and is putting together a CD and
needed some more recent head shots. We took some photos about a year
and 1/2 ago, and what a difference that time makes in the growth of a teenager!
She has become such a young lady!

Miss S also has a wonderful BFF Miss H...who came along and we were
able to get in some individual shots of both of them, along with some BFF shots together!
Miss H is such a JOY {and I cant wait to photog her whole family} It was so
fun hanging with these girls and laughing...and all the hair fixin and lipgloss...
brought me back to the days where it was all so easy, fun and carefree!

I have posted 2 shots of Miss S below from the old shoot, so you can see last years ones.
Amazing. Its funny because you can tell we've both grown and that makes me so happy!
Since I took these last night, they are all SOOC...another thing that makes me smile.

Here are the new shots. I apologize for the wicked long post, but there are just so

many that I happen to love of these girls, so you will have to

forgive me for posting them all...I get so excited! We did these

last night at the most beautiful old farm house! The family was kind

enough to let us use the property. It is simply the BEST backdrop, EVER.

Buttercups?

The other day I was driving home and I saw, smack dab in the middle of new home construction, road closing, and possible commercial development, this little area of these beautiful yellow buttercups...and some other wildflowers as well. Who knows, for all I know they could be just weeds, but so pretty and inviting none the less. I knew from the looks of things all around, that they would be bulldozed to the ground if I didnt get in there and shoot something. In one text and one hour, a yellow shabby bench and the perfect little girl. Dont you just love her missing front teeth? She was just a doll for me, and I was over the moon to get my shot! All these images are SOOC, I just couldnt wait to see them and post them...the sunny yellow summer!

So happy to have this face back! She had a great time...and had lots of
adventures, including going to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar! Yeah,
not so sure how that happened, but hey...when in Jackson Hole...
I have been hearing about all the animals and all the fun...oh to be 8.
We spent some time catching up today...really just me soaking her back in.

I really enjoyed meeting this new mom and her beautiful baby girl.

Baby C was two weeks old in these shots, but just over 5

pounds...a beautiful little peanut. You can just call me the

Target stalker, right D? thank you, my new friend.

These shots are my favorite of the series. I just love the soft love between them.

Here are some shots from my latest assignment for Finding The Joy 2010.
I needed to capture some play moments between my child and the people
in his life...people that he spends daily time with. I have had some lightbulb
moments, and other times...well not so much! In anycase, I have enjoyed
this week so far!



                                    Look at him trying to use that this tiny driver! Too funny.

He's not allowed to swing just any which way now, becase they actually go flying!

Here is my entry for this week on i heart faces! This is a photo I snapped
of my cousins little girl playing on our backyard waterslide. If you do not
have a waterslide, I highly recommend getting one. Worth every penny.
I have always loved this photo of miss M because to me it just evokes
nothing but pure childhood summer JOY!

I know, I know, NO MORE babies for me...but I can atleast

hold them and smell the heavenly smell that comes from their

little heads...thats the scent of heaven. Baby H is such a joy!

Baby, its cold outside!

Here are some shots that I took on a VERY cold January day.
Friends of ours were looking for some engagement shots...it was
so beautiful out there, but the frigid cold air made me want to cry!
I think there was enough heat between these two, however,
that they had a great session. It was an adventure, and the
scenery was just amazing that day. I love it when my subjects
are not afraid to be adventurous...I so love trying new things! Enjoy!

I recently had the opportunity to shoot some amazing subjects, some of
my best friends really...silver and gemstones! My friend Rosanne Main
of Posh Designs has come up with some beautiful works of art. The shoot
resulted in over 400 shots of her amazing pieces! The shots are for her
website, and when it is up and running I will post a link so that you all can
shop! She has this very cool interlocking charm system, and also, her
coordinating necklaces and bracelets are made to actually link together so
you can elongate your necklace! Very cool. I was also given a Mothers
Bracelet as a gift from Roseanne...thank you so much! I love it!
It was hard to pick which shots I love, but I am going to post A TON so
that you can maybe send some business her way!

This one below is my absolute favorite! This is both the neckalce and bracelet combined!

Then just the necklace and the bracelet shots alone.

Below are some examples of the charm system I mentioned, you can just get one of

her regular silver link chains, then buy and add gemstone or quartz charms along

the way and change them out! I shot over 30 + charms!

I just loved these kids! This little man was so sweet and his sister...well you would not know it from these pics, but she has quite an amazing little personality! I really enjoyed my time getting to know them both! Thier mom is a childhood friend, who recently I was able to reconnect with thanks to Facebook. It is so cool to me when I see my childhood friends and thier kids, its almost like stepping into a time machine! I see these little faces and I am brought right back to 2nd grade! It's so awesome!
